We are looking for an HR Generalist to be the dedicated day-to-day HR partner for our 100+ team members across multiple Central Texas locations. Reporting directly to the CEO for strategic direction, partnering with Operations leadership on day-to-day matters, and working closely alongside our Recruiter (Recruiting & HR Coordinator) and HR Admin, you are the senior operational HR voice on the team — the person team members come to with questions, concerns, and the day-to-day matters of their working lives. This is a people-first role. You’ll handle the conversations that matter — employee questions, benefits questions, leave administration, conflict intake, performance review coordination — with discretion, warmth, and the kind of follow-through that builds trust. Behind that, you’ll run the operational HR backbone: benefits administration, payroll support, onboarding and offboarding execution, compliance documentation, and HRIS hygiene. You’ll also provide functional coordination to the broader HR team, partnering with the Recruiter on talent flow and the HR Admin on operational priorities. HR at myDental runs as a team — no rigid silos. We pick up where teammates leave off and keep the function moving for our team, no matter what. As a 100% dentist-owned dental group guided by our CARES values (Compassion, Accountability, Resourcefulness, Engagement, and Strategic), myDental delivers the myDental Experience to thousands of families every week. Our people deliver that experience — and you’ll be the dedicated HR person taking care of them. If you’ve been waiting for an HR role where you actually know everyone, where the work is real, and where leadership listens — we want to talk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the trusted face of HR for our team — handle every conversation, question, and concern with discretion, warmth, and reliable follow-through
- Build ongoing employee touchpoints — new-hire check-ins at 30, 60, and 90 days; regular site visits across all locations; standing 1:1s with Office Managers; and drop-in availability for team members who need a person to talk to
- Lead employee relations and workplace incident management — concerns, complaints, conflicts, workplace injuries, HIPAA matters, and behavioral issues; listen, document, support, and escalate to Operations leadership when matters require formal investigation, disciplinary action, or legal review
- Administer leave programs end-to-end — FMLA, ADA, parental, workers’ compensation — including paperwork, employee communication, and coordination with payroll and benefits
- Coordinate performance management cycles — review schedules, paperwork, manager support, reminders, and development plan follow-through
- Run benefits administration — health, dental, vision, 401(k), ancillary coverages — including open enrollment, vendor coordination, employee education, and the answers people need when they have benefits questions
- Own onboarding and offboarding execution — partner with the Recruiter on new-hire experience, run Day-1 readiness, complete I-9/E-Verify, conduct exit interviews, and ensure final documentation is complete
- Support payroll administration in partnership with the team responsible for processing — accurate employee data, timely changes, clean records
- Own time clock administration — punch corrections, timesheet approval workflow, attendance tracking, PTO accrual management, and overtime monitoring; partner with Office Managers on staff scheduling matters tied to leave, PTO, and coverage
- Maintain HRIS data integrity, employee files, and compliance documentation; ensure records are audit-ready and aligned with HIPAA, OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO standards
- Lead culture building and engagement — team events, outings, recognition programs, anniversaries, all-hands moments, holiday gatherings, and the everyday rituals that strengthen our CARES culture and make myDental feel like myDental
- Provide functional coordination across the HR team — partner with the Recruiter on candidate experience and hiring logistics, and with the HR Admin on operational priorities
- Pick up where teammates leave off — cover their work when they’re out and do whatever keeps the HR function moving. HR at myDental runs as a team, not as siloed roles
- Be a trusted resource on policy interpretation — help team members understand their benefits, time-off, and workplace expectations clearly and consistently
- Champion the CARES culture in every interaction; identify employee trends from your touchpoints and surface them to Operations leadership
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 2-4 years of HR experience as a Generalist, Coordinator, or Specialist
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or aPHR certification a plus (not required)
- Healthcare, dental, or multi-location workforce experience a plus
- A high performer — sets a high bar and brings reliable follow-through to every interaction
- Honest — tells the truth in employee conversations and in the moments that matter
- In it for the long haul — looking for a stable HR home, not a stepping stone
- A natural fit for our team — lives the CARES values, not just talks about them
- High EQ — reads people, listens for what isn’t said, builds trust quickly with team members at every level
- Warm and approachable — team members feel safe coming to you with anything
- Direct but kind — can have hard conversations without becoming the adversary
- Active listener — gives full attention, takes time to understand, asks thoughtful questions, doesn’t interrupt
- Confidentiality and discretion — handles sensitive employee information with the trust the role demands
- Highly organized — keeps dozens of moving pieces clean and current without dropping anything
- Detail-oriented — accuracy matters in everything from benefits enrollment to FMLA paperwork
- Reliable follow-through — when you say you’ll handle it, it gets handled
- Calm under pressure — stays composed and helpful even when situations get sensitive
- Working knowledge of HR administration: benefits, payroll concepts, leave administration, and compliance documentation
- Familiarity with employment law basics (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, OSHA, EEO) — knows enough to spot issues and escalate appropriately
- Comfortable with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, and benefits administration tools
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication — clear, warm, and professional with team members at every level
- Spanish-English bilingual is a plus — we serve diverse communities across Central Texas
- Must be able to travel to myDental locations across Central Texas as required by the role; reliable transportation required
